About Brandon Wong, Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker in San Diego Fatherhood changes everything. Let's make sense of it together.
I'm a dad — and I know firsthand how much shifts when a child enters the picture. Based in San Diego, I work with new and expecting dads who are stepping into one of the biggest roles of their lives, and with young adults navigating the stretch between who they've been and who they're becoming.
Whether you're feeling the weight of new responsibility, struggling to recognize yourself in the life taking shape around you, or just trying to show up the way you actually want to — I offer a real, grounded space to slow down, get honest, and move forward with more clarity and steadiness.
Nobody told you it would feel like this.
You're someone who handles things. You show up — for your partner, your family, your responsibilities. You figure it out. That's always been the deal.
But something about this one isn't cooperating.
Maybe you became a dad and expected to feel more certain than you do. Maybe you've built a life that looks right from the outside but doesn't quite feel like yours from the inside. Maybe the pressure you're carrying doesn't have an obvious name, or an obvious place to go.
You're used to solving things. This doesn't feel solvable in the usual way — and that's disorienting for someone like you.
You don't need to have it figured out before you reach out. That's what the work is for.
HOW I WORK:
I'm direct. I'm warm. And I pay close attention.
A lot of the men I work with are self-aware — they have a real sense of what's going on. What's harder is catching it in real time. Noticing the pattern as it's forming, before you're already in the same reaction, the same shutdown, the same place you didn't mean to end up.
That's where we focus. Not just understanding what's driving your experience, but learning to do something different with it in the moments that actually count. This isn't about endlessly analyzing the past. It's about what happens next — in your relationship, in your head, in the way you show up for the people you love.
The work is practical. It's also real. I'll bring honesty and I'll expect the same in return. We'll find the lighter moment when it's there, and we won't avoid what's hard when it isn't.
What therapy with me is like
-
Easy to talk to — even when the topic isn't
Warm and genuinely invested, without being heavy about it
Honest and real — not clinical, not performative
Someone who can find the lighter moment without losing sight of the work
Non-judgmental, no matter what you bring in
Committed — to you, to the process, and to actually getting somewhere
-
Adjusting to fatherhood — the identity shift, the relational change, the pressure nobody prepared you for
Navigating young adulthood and the gap between who you are and who you thought you'd be by now
Feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or quietly stuck
Carrying something internally that doesn't have an obvious outlet
Ready to work — not just vent — and wanting a therapist who will actually engage
